Turf City FC Players Train with European Pro Clubs

Four Turf City FC players recently got the chance of a lifetime to train and play for professional clubs’ youth teams with 2 more getting their chance in coming months.

In August 2017, after Turf City FC’s successful trip to Portugal in the Ibercup Estoril, 4 players from the club had the opportunity to train and play for youth teams of 1st Division European clubs for 14 days during the players’ summer break.

TCFC central midfielder and U11 captain Sergio Canos Cervera, along with U13s Sandy Duggal and Andreas Canos Cervera, had an amazing and educational 14 days training and match stint with SK Slavia Prague while on holiday in the Czech Republic.

Well known for being one of the biggest clubs in Europe for producing players, SK Slavia Prague brought Vladimir Smicer to the world’s attention. Signing for Liverpool FC, Smicer then went on to play an integral part in the 2005 Champions League winning team, even scoring Liverpool’s second goal that lead to the famous come-from-behind victory.

Impressive in leading his team to victory at the Ibercup Estoril, Sergio (above) continued his form when he visited SK Slavia Prague during the summer break with great vision, creativity and an ability to play at a high energy level consistently in every training session and match.

Sandy (pictured right) plays as the defensive midfielder for Turf City FC and as a 12-year-old competes in the Under-13 group, sometimes even stepping up to the Under-14s. A boy known for his very open character, he definitely did not shy away from this challenge to play and train with SK Slavia Prague.

Sandy showed great strength and aggression in midfield and dominated the centre of the park in the friendly matches.

Andreas (below in red and white) started as a midfielder for Turf City FC before actually realising his true ability to play as a centre-back. A player with natural leadership quality, he has recently become the captain of his team.

Andreas has good understanding of the game in his role and he showed good composure and calmness in tough situations.

Benedict (below), also known as Benny to his teammates, had a training stint with SKN St. Polten youth team, an Austrian Bundesliga (1st Division) club.

Hardworking and with a great attitude, Benny showed his qualities of tracking back, defending and being very active in joining the attack during counter-attacks.

The Man Behind the Scenes

Milan Martinovic may be an unknown name to casual football fans, however he is well known amongst some of the top players in Europe. As a leading football agent, Milan has represented some world-class players including Luka Modric and Dejan Lovren.

After a couple of trips to Singapore and having visited Turf City FC in the recent Ibercup Estoril in July, Milan is happy to become Turf City Football Club’s official agent. Milan was impressed with a few of the boys and through his relationship with these clubs, he has managed to get TCFC players the opportunity to train and play in those clubs.

Milan said, “When I first went to Singapore in May to meet my friend who is the Technical Director of Turf City FC, I did not expect to see [such] high quality and [high] potential players but I was wrong. The club has players with good quality.”

He added, “I was in Estoril for a couple of days when TCFC took part in the tournament and what I saw was the boys were able to compete against the European teams, that was a great indication for me.”

After TCFC’s success in the Ibercup, Milan is very happy to cooperate with Turf City Football Club in a project allowing players to be sent to top European clubs for training and match stints. Speaking about the cooperation, he said “This is just the beginning of our cooperation of the project of many years. In the near future, more TCFC players will get the opportunity to show their ability and potential to clubs all over Europe”.
